Referrals
Where your referral link lives, what a registration and a paid subscription each earn you, how long the link is remembered, and what the screen counts.
If you bring another business to Control Total, the account it registers with is tied to yours and what that brings in is counted for you. It is read from Referrals, under your account in the menu.
The screen only appears while the referral programme is turned on. If it is not in your menu, that is why.
Your referral link
The top of the screen carries one link, with a Copy link button beside it. It is yours and it does not change: it is the address of Control Total with your own referral code attached to it.
Share it however you like — a message, a post, an email. What matters is that the other business arrives through it.
They do not have to register the same day. When someone opens your link, the code is remembered in their browser for several days, so a visit today and a registration next week are still tied to you.
Two things break that tie, and both are worth knowing:
- A different browser, or a different device. The code is remembered where the link was opened. Someone who opens it on their phone and registers on their computer arrives with nothing.
- Your own account. Registering with your own link does not count as a referral.
What you earn
Two rewards are counted, and the screen shows the amount of each one at the top:
| Reward | When it is counted |
|---|---|
| Registration reward | A fixed amount, the moment the referred business registers. |
| Paid subscription reward | A percentage of what that business pays, each time it pays for its subscription. |
The registration reward is counted once per business. The subscription reward is counted every time they pay, so a business that stays on a paid plan keeps generating for you month after month.
What the screen shows
Virtual money generated is the total of everything both rewards have added up to, with Registered users below it — how many businesses have registered with your link.
Below that, Users registered with your link lists them one by one: who registered, the date they did it, and how much that one business has generated for you so far. A business that registered but has not paid for a subscription yet shows only its registration reward.
Until someone registers, the list says so and the total stands at zero.
Getting what you generated
The screen counts what you have earned; it does not spend it by itself. Nothing is discounted from your own plan automatically, and there is no button here to cash it out.
When you want to use it, write to the people who run Control Total from Support, under Administration, saying which account you are writing about. Your plan and support explains where that button is.
