Some businesses take their orders to the customer's door with couriers who are not on their staff: the courier picks the order up at the shop, pays for it, takes it to the customer and charges their own fee. What the business has to know is where each order goes and whether it already left with the courier.
Home delivery keeps several addresses for each customer, sends a sell order to one of them, and tells you whether the order is Pending or Delivered. It does not assign couriers, collect on delivery or draw routes.
Before you start
Home delivery is a module. Open Add-ons, under Settings in the team menu, find the Reparto a domicilio card and buy it: it is a paid module, bought once for life or added to your subscription (see Your plan and support). It does not need any other module.
Save a customer's addresses
Open the customer from Clients. With the module on, their page has a Delivery addresses block listing the addresses saved for them. Create one from that block with:
- Label, optional: a name to tell them apart, such as Home or Office.
- City, optional.
- Address, required: the street, number, neighbourhood and any reference the courier needs.
Edit or delete an address from the same block. Whoever can see the customer sees their addresses, and whoever can edit the customer adds, edits and deletes them.
The address field the customer already had on their own form stays as it is, and so does the client search: it is not one of the delivery addresses.
Send a sell order home
Create the sell order as usual (see Create a sell order) and turn on Home delivery, under the payment conditions.
- Choose the customer first. If you turn on home delivery before choosing one, a message asks you to choose the customer and the switch stays off.
- In Delivery Address, choose one of the customer's saved addresses.
- If the address is not saved yet, press Add address, fill in the label, the city and the address, and press Save address. It is saved for the customer and chosen for this order, without leaving it.
The order cannot be finished with home delivery on and no address chosen: a message asks you to choose the address or turn home delivery off. Turning it off takes the address off the order. Changing the customer takes it off too, since it was the other customer's.
The fast sale does not offer home delivery: use the sell order for orders that go home.
The address stays on the order
When you finish the order, it keeps a copy of the address as it was at that moment. Editing or deleting the customer's address afterwards does not change an order already issued.
Pending and Delivered
An order sent home starts Pending. When it leaves with the courier, open it, or find it in the sell order list, and press Mark as delivered. After you confirm, the order shows Delivered, and its history records who marked it and when.
Mark as delivered is offered only on a finished order that is still pending, to whoever can edit sell orders. A cancelled order, one replaced by a new version, or one with a new version saved as a draft does not offer it. There are no other states, and a delivered order does not go back to pending. Marking it delivered does not change the order's status or what can be done with it.
The order's page shows the delivery under its data: the state, the address and, once delivered, who marked it and when. The sell order list has a Delivery column with the state, and a Delivery filter to see only the pending or only the delivered orders. Orders without home delivery show nothing in that column.
Where the address prints
The delivery address prints, as text only, on the thermal ticket, on the browser ticket and the order's public page, and on the PDF. Nothing about the courier or their fee is printed.
When a delivery fails
Use what the sell order already has: cancel it, giving the money back and returning the products to the stock (see Cancel a sell order), or register a return (see Returns and post-sale discounts).
Copies and new versions
- Clone makes an order without home delivery: no address and no state. Turn it on again if the copy goes home too.
- Recycle keeps the address and the state of the original on the new version.
With the module off
Turning Reparto a domicilio off hides the switch on the sell order, the address block on the customer, the list column and filter, and Mark as delivered. Nothing saved is lost: the addresses and the orders' delivery data come back as they were when you turn it on again. While it is off, an order sent home no longer prints its address.
